These very highly modified Ford A series were rather rare. I understand they suffered from the kind of stability problems which are unfortunately quite common when standard chassis are modified by aftermarket adaptations - instead of being purpose built as off road 4X4s from the drawing board. They were built to bridge the gap between the Land Rover and Range Rover and full size 4X4 chassis like the Bedfords and Thornycrofts.

The FIAT based Bremach was a similar design, and a contender for the most dangerous 4X4 fire appliance ever built too…..There are a few examples on this site.
