These hose carts are very common, but not universal, among German fire services, and are almost standard on French pumpers, except for brush trucks - where they would pose a bit of a ground clearance problem. The other major country to use them extensively is Japan, but their hose carts are usually four wheelers and carry flaked rather than rolled hoses. Some of the larger capacity ones have an electric motor and one crew member can drive it riding on a platform. Other fire services rely on a hose bed which can pay out hoses from the rear. These are very common in the Americas and Australia. Usually - as in the case of Japan- this solution is associated with a mid mounted pump location, while the pumps with demountable hose carts are almost always rear mounted.
