This is the newer version, with a coach built body on a chassis cab. Earlier BSPP basic life support ambulances were based on a standard Renault van, similar to the unit in photo 42945 on this site. The van based solution was less expensive but had less interior space and stowage for equipment. French fire service ambulances continue to be red while in many other EU countries they have gradually been replaced by yellow.
