This is the later series with the huge black rubber grille and square headlights in an effort to update the cab’s appearance. Not a very successful effort, to my mind!

Looks more like a US version.

Neal: The D series was indeed developed by the same team of US Ford engineers who designed the immensely successful American
C series chassis, who ended up using the Budd cab. This was originally designed for Mack, but never adopted by them. Although the D series cab was toned down and less aggressively styled, it did still have a lot in common with the American cab.

Several British truck manufacturers "updated" their cabs with big black plastic or rubber grilles and square or rectangular lights around the same time, including Bedford, Dodge and Leyland as well as Ford. Cheap, arguably cheerful and universally ugly!
