This is the long nine seat Scania factory cab. Volunteer fire companies in Germany still buy nine seat units, but most full time fire services crew HLF 20 units with six or occasionally seven.

Scanias are recently beginning to find their way into more and more German fire services, but are of course still vastly outnumbered by Iveco, MAN and Mercedes. Darmstadt has joined the fray with two Scania-Lentner HLF20s, with custom bodywork rather than the Scania crew cab. Cleveland fans will be delighted to learn that they decided to paint the front panels white! Less exciting news is that the wheels are painted white too, which is a bit odd...

43917 shows one of German fire services most impressive Scanias, a four axle rear steer 8X4 heavy rescue truck with a crane.
