Meissen with 48,000 citizens is protected by a 102 strong volunteer fire company, who responded to just under 300 alarms so far this year, including 77 fires. In addition to this unit, they have an LF10, a DLK 23/23, a TLF 4000, a rescue truck, a hazmat unit, a first responder light pump, a personnel carrier, a command van and a logistics van. The town is of course home to the World famous Meissen porcelain factory, which also has its own fire brigade, often working alongside the town's firefighters when the need arises.
