Thuringa is one of the smaller of Germany's sixteen states, with a population just over two million. The "Katastrophenscutzdienst", or Civil Defense, is organized on a State by State basis, and - as mentioned before - hazmat response is a major area of responsibility for all German fire services.

Binz is best known as a longstanding major German manufacturer of ambulances, but also produces light rescue, command vans and various special purpose units on light chassis like this VW Cito.
