This is a standard specification French rescue pump water tender. On a 15 ton MAN RWD chassis, it has an eight seater crew cab, a pump rated at a minimum of 2000 LPM at 15 AT, a single high pressure first aid 23 mm hose reel, a >3000 litre water tank, 200 litres of class A foam and the customary pair of 65 mm hose carts with 200 meters of hose each. In addition, it has a similar set of rescue tools as are to be found in other countries, principally intended to facilitate extrication of road traffic accident victims.
Optional equipment varies depending on local needs, including CAFS, class B foam, line rescue kit, a larger water tank, a higher capacity pump and some flexibility when it comes to ladders. Most FPTSR are understandably locally built Renaults, but Scania and Mercedes are popular too as well as MAN. They are very rarely on 4X4 chassis, as French fire services prefer dedicated off road trucks for brush, forest, grass and crop firefighting. Although the eight seat cab is required, some SDIS are content to crew the FPTSR with only six firefighters
