Castle Cary L4Vs I took this picture on June 23rd 1999 during the Glastonbury festival when soft top Land Rover SYA 887R from 1977 was being replaced at Castle Cary by brand new Land Rover 110 T521 RYA. Imagine my surprise this summer when on holiday in Scotland in a lovely highland cottage, finding SYA 887R partially sheeted over in the driveway of the next door cottage/B&B! It's current owner recently bought it and is in the process of restoring it, it's bodywork appearing in very good condition. He was somewhat surprised when I engaged him in conversation and asked if it was the old Land Rover from Castle Cary. The vehicle still has its Somerset Fire Brigade vehicle records with it, although has lost all it's fire brigade details , other than the red livery, but still has the station nameplate holders, just no nameplate as per this photo. Apologies for picture quality, a poor scan of an old print.
