The H registration Land Rover dates from 1969 - suggesting that this former NFS ATV was at least 25 years old by then. I find it amazing that so many of these did often serve for such long periods like this, sometimes in their original role - but often in new guises as salvage tenders, foam tenders, BA tenders, shop vans and general purpose runabouts. When they continued as towing tenders with trailer pumps, they usually had a small water tank, first aid pump and hose reel as well as the basic equipment originally specified for wartime emergency use. I remember seeing them in my youth mainly at small retained fire stations like Middleham, Robin Hoods Bay and Wolverton, among others.
