There are around 280 business fire brigades (Betriebsfeuerwehr) in Germany. These are distinguished from the much larger number of factory fire brigades(Werksfeuerwehr), because the latter are officially recognized by each State and respond to incidents along side municipal fire services, while the Betriebsfeuerwehr organizations are essentially private with no public incident response requirement. As such, they tend to be smaller and have less elaborate special purpose equipment.

BTW, German airport fire services are considered to be Werkfeuerwehr organizations, unless they are operated by the municipality.
