This is a nice example of a truck which spent 17 years with a big city full time fire service, then another 10 with a small town volunteer fire company. Despite the fact that Germany is now a much more affluent country than it was in 1972, volunteers do still quite often buy used units from big full time fire services. In addition, there is a flourishing market for used German fire trucks in many Eastern European and South American countries, where it is very possible to encounter units in service which are 40 or even 50 years old!
