It is very common in Germany for a small volunteer fire company like Limburgerhof to buy a used TTL in good fettle from a big city and operate it for another fourteen years or so after its first life of seventeen years with the big boys.

This town of 11,000 citizens volunteers operate two pumpers, a water tanker, a TTL, a personnel carrier and a command van.
