8000 litre tankers for urban firefighting are very common in Belgium, and were originally mandated by - and supplied by - the national government - for use in communities where the existing hydrant networks were deemed to have insufficient capacity.
The first ones were on Steyr and Renault 19 ton GVW chassis - which were legal in Belgium back then - but they have since gone through several replacement cycles.
Originally they had a 1600 LPM pump, a standard two seat truck cab and very little locker space. But this 18 ton Scania seems to have room for quite a bit of equipment, thanks to more modern engineering and materials offering increased payload on a slightly lower GVW chassis.
