Great photo, nicely illustrating the Deutz V6 125 BHP air-cooled V6 engine on this beautiful old Magirus water tender. It also depicts the original additional front suction for the pump, which on these appliances was mid mounted for better weight distribution, although the control panel was at the rear.
Incidentally, this also depicts the early type rotating blue lights, which I think were introduced in the mid 1950s. They were often mounted on posts like this, instead of flush fitted, as well as on the ubiquitous VW Beetle police cars and fire service command vehicles.
