Another way for a small volunteer fire brigade to save money is to squeeze another nine years of service out of a thirty year old ex-army WT, which has probably had a rather quiet life on a military base. In addition, this was probably about as useful off road as anything they could have bought, new or used!It is now in the fire museum in this town of 20,000, which has a 150 year old volunteer fire brigade with 76 active operational volunteers. They have three pumps, a water tanker, one turntable ladder, a heavy rescue truck, a command van and a personnel carrier, along with a staff car, a utility truck and two trailers. In recent years, they have responded to an average of around 100 incidents annually.
