MAN Marshall USAR East Ham London

2003 Fire Brigade Society visit. These New Dimension vehicles had recently been introduced by the government after 9/11. They were national assets and allocated to brigades but not owned by them. As leases have ended some have now been bought by brigades. At East Ham they all faced to the rear under the wash, as they took a lot of space in the appliance bays. Note the hook up reel above as part of the charging routine. Full details of USAR in London can be found at

Many similar vehicles are operated as special purpose pod carriers in various European countries -but are mostly on 6X2 rear steer chassis for increased maneuverability.
