Bumper mounted remote controlled monitors are increasingly replacing roof or superstructure mounted monitors, partly because it is easier for the driver operating the monitor to see exactly where the water or foam is going.
The drawbacks are mainly the risk of damage if the unit has to crash through vegetation or fences and the fact that most of these are lower LPM capacity than is possible with a roof or body mounted unit.
