KS66YAH Volvo FL/JDC Emergency Response

This is a British Transport Police (BTP)/Transport for London (TFL) vehicle intended to respond to incidents on London's transport network. They were introduced after the 2005 tube bombings. Some of the vehicles are driven on orange lights by transport staff but some are blue light and driven by BTP officers, and have Police lettering on the front. Built by JDC the fire engine builder, now defunct, they carry lifting, cutting and spreading gear. This one is based at the Jubilee line depot, Stratford. There are about 8-10 units across London.

NYPD also operate full size rescue squad trucks which are very similar to FDNY FRUs. They are staffed by ESU officers, who also function as SWAT teams in the city.

Their presence is one reason FDNY operate only 5 FRUs, compared to London's 14... (FDNY also has 8 Squad Companies, which perform a dual role as rescue and engine company responders).
