note rolling siren. was a Highlands & Islands Fire Brigade (formerly Northern Area Fire Brigade and Northern Fire Brigade) appliance and was based at Lerwick in the Shetland Isles. It was registered in the county of Caithness (the SK part of the registration plate), in the northern Highlands. It was the last pump escape with the brigade and was kept in Lerwick because the escape ladder could achieve better stability in high winds than a 135 ladder.
The appliance came out of service in 1985 and was only then acquire by Central Region Fire Brigade as a preserved appliance and added their own livery to it.
Late Alastair Collins collection - used with permission.
