Thanks Petros, looks like the drill yard at Worthing alongside the "smoke house" and training buildings. After serving at Crawley I believe it was allocated to training from 1977 to 1983, I've got some old sine film of me climbing in and out of it at a Worthing open day in the mid 1970s, and using a branch running from it, but it was still in Coventry yellow then, it looks freshly repainted, or just very clean in this picture. It did survive, passed through several hands, but as you say had become a complete wreck..i understand its being worked on now, and one day may be able to join its beautifully restored and cared for Yellow sister MP0 55J..what a fine sight that would make, and important as the only surviving West Sussex F44.

Jon, MPO 54J went from Crawley to Steyning for a very short time, was deemed unsuitable, moving on to Horsham as RL(2), till 1978 then to Training Center. MPX 589J WRL(2)Chichester required extensive repairs to remain front line, so was swapped with MPO 54J in 1982, it stayed at Chichester till 1983, was very much liked by its crew, a far faster machine than MPX 589J, it moved to reserve duties. Its place at Chichester was taken by WPO 477K Dennis F49 from Shoreham.
Thanks Martyn, I had heard the "1 week at Steyning" story about MPO54J. Thanks for your excellent detail as always, I can remember the F49 at Shoreham & Chichester, but being a Worthing lad DPX636L was certainly my favorite.
