1970s photo Fairwood Common former RAF base. Unipower formed the basis of quite a few ACTs at this period. I wrote an article for a magazine called Fire World many years ago about the marque.
Not sure of fire engineering on this one.

Late Alastair Collins collection - used with permission.

Thanks, Petros this is interesting. I came across two. We had one at Leeds/Bradford in 1979. Bodied by Angloco with a RR B81 petrol engine. The other was at CAA school at Stansted, similar open architecture to this but a monitor platform accessed from the outside. I quite liked the machines to work with, although the LBA one was "light" in the rear end in the wet.

I used to drive/operate this one - was searching to see if it had been rescued. 600 Gallons of water 40 Gallons of Foam, Trinity/Godiva pump and monitor. Monitor accessed from inside with a foot operated valve. One Branch connection either side. All the controls were pneumatic with a manual reversion with the pressure dumped. Engine driven PTO rather than drive train.

If you google- 'U.K.: Fire-Fighters Prepare For Jumbo Jet Age 1969'
There is a filmed demo of a burning Avro Shackleton being put out by a crash tender , is it a Unipower?
