One of the first batch of 11 D series fire appliances, built in 1967. Ten identical water tenders and one foam tender were delivered to Gloucestershire. They replaced several older Commer Miles units.
These had a special order Canadian built five liter six cylinder petrol engine, which was more powerful than the standard UK petrol offering at the time. Quite soon after, both the Ford 300 CID turbo diesel and the Perkins 510 V8 were also offered, as more brigades turned to diesel powered appliances.
Later versions also had more integrated bodywork with split tilt cabs by HCBA, Carmichael and CFE, and the Reliant four door tilt cab on Merryweather and some Pyrene versions.
