Used to see this Dodge TL regularly on Slateford road racing to a fire. Loved the sound of it when it passed me and the old siren it used.

By the time this was placed in to service, most British turntables were being built with standard truck cabs rather than a full crew cab like this example. In practice, very few brigades staffed them in those days with more than two crew, and in many cases they usually had only a driver on board. Crew cabs on turntables disappeared even earlier in most other countries, except of course in the Americas and in countries which used American equipment or - like Japan - were highly influenced by American firefighting practice and equipment design.
