This looks like a former Rosenbauer demonstrator; The firm has its own assembly operation in Spain and has a strong market share among Spanish fire services.
With a population of 230, 000 Salamanca has a full time fire service working a five watch system, with 19 operational firefighters on each watch. Off duty personnel can also be recalled in the event of a major emergency, but this was not necessary in 2017.
Turning out from a large central fire station, the fleet includes three city pumpers, two rural pump tankers, two rescue trucks, two aerial ladders, one platform and a command vehicle.
There are also several trailers for special equipment - and a variety of administrative support units.
To contend with the narrow streets of this ancient city, most of the trucks are - like this Atego - rather compact.
Last year they responded to 1606 alarms, including 491 fires and 244 rescues, including traffic accidents. The rest were special service calls and also included only 39 false alarms - a very small number.
Although not recorded as such, I suspect the general absence of automatic fire alarms in Spanish towns was largely responsible for the lack of false alarm runs. In some countries, these account for between 25% and 40% of turnouts.
