This colorful Econic is one of Luxembourg's nineteen aerials, sporting a striping scheme which is relatively new.

The country has 576, 000 inhabitants living in an area of 998 square miles protected by 25 fire stations, but only one - in the capital city - is full time.

As well as 167 full-timers in the city, there are 5, 200 volunteers in the remaining communities.

The fleet is large and includes no less than 254 pumpers, 101 assorted rescue and special purpose units, 19 aerials and 12 pod carriers, in addition to around 200 command, transport and miscellaneous support units along with 157 trailers.

In recent years, the service has dealt with approximately 14, 350 incidents a year, including around 2, 250 fires.

With one of the highest per capita incomes in Europe, Luxembourg has a big budget for fire protection, but gets an even bigger bang for its buck by relying on unpaid volunteers to handle around 75% of all its emergency calls.
