2006 KME/Kovatch Foam Pumper

Within the City of Philadelphia are several oil refineries and large chemical facilities. Having lost 6 firefighters during a refinery fire in the 1970's, the department has taken a pro-active approach to such responses by strategically locating HazMat and Foam units along the city's 2 rivers. These units are cross-staffed by conventional Engine Companies.

Hey Lou I have all the state of Delaware posted on my website, every station as well as several from Philly. Check it out. I also have some Kuwait and I am in the Philippines at present. www.angelfire.com/la2/siresphotos Do you have a website?

This is actually a 2001 Spartan/E-One Foam Pumper. Philly has 3 of these!

Hi Daryl - forgive me but I beg to differ on this truck. E-One always puts their oval over the rear wheels, and in the grill - but if you notice on this truck the only visible logo is on the cab above the center window and I think that is the ALF, American LaFrance logo.

I've been up close to all 3 trucks several times. They are assigned to 18, 33, and 60. I've actually been onboard Foam 33. There property numbers are 015420, 015421, and 015422. These are for a fact Spartan/E-Ones!

Very interesting. I worked at E-one for 16 years and they never missed a logo or a grill - and this one is missing both...but the truck really does look the part (spartan/e-one) so I wonder if the department intentionally removed the logos and changed the grill or something like that. There is also a nameplate at the rear stanchion where the amber beacon is..also missing. Do you have any close up shots that you might be able to zoom in on for the logo above the center cab window?

After a little more research - I agree 100%, E-One body on a Spartan chassis. I am still confused about the logo situation though.

Do these three also function as conventional triples? This example has ground ladders, a crosslay and what looks like a conventional water deck gun. So it seems like it could do both jobs?

I have a shot of Foam 60, its a 2001 KME. I do not believe this is a ALF or E-One. I know mine is 5 years earlier but the Foam 18 looks a lot like the shot I have of an older version at www.angelfire.com/la2/siresphotos under the Philly FD icon.

This is one of three built by E-ONE in 2001 on Spartan chassis, they are combo structural-foam rigs and are the 1st line rig for each co.
Jack Wright chronicled the saga of these rigs in his Fire Apparatus Journal columns, the bid was changed during construction to Spartan chassis from E-ONE Hurricane chassis, did not make E-ONE happy, I believe the E-ONE logo appears on the rear of the body.Mr. Sires, you have incorrect info.
