Are the brigade actually purchasing these new appliances, or are they just on lease?????.The reason I ask is because with stations being closed, stations being downgraded from 2 pumps to only one pump must surely mean there is now a surplus of appliances within the brigade so why do we need more.

Talk about cutbacks, they seem to be happening in the wrong areas as far as I'm concerned, and especially in the retained section yet again.

Pete, as far as I know they are purchased.
There is a surplace of appliances but there is also a lot of appliances that are getting on for 14 years old and are still front line, this means costly repair bills & service bills to keep them going. Sometimes you need to spend money to save in the long run.
Also there is actually 5 Scania's due now not 3, being fitted with CAFS & 2500 litre water tanks they are a considerable upgrade to what is at those stations at present. I know Midhurst are more than happy with their example.

Worthing's sole MAN appliance HX13 FOF was finally replaced by Scania P280/CP31/JDC WX15 GLY on December 9th 2015 after a lengthy period of driver training due to a new advanced braking system being fitted. HX13 FOF should now be off to a more relaxing life at Steyning.
