How the world has changed in 50 years! This machine is so light by today's standards! (Six stud wheels/hubs give this vehicle a Gross weight of no more than 8 Ton 10 cwt - 8640 Kg.)

It was based at Swindon and the body was by Mumfords
probably HCB , it has their trademark twin screens and you are bang on about weight , we should have lighter appliances , more economical and better agility , there is no need for about 70% of the equipment carried on a standard appliance these days , a fleet of smaller lighter appliances of around 10 tons or lighter to avoid the huge expense of hgv would be ideal first strike in towns and rural alike with the larger appliances used for more appropriate turn outs
Famously there was the Bedford TK/Mumford Emergency Tender YJY999 built for Plymouth, a similar big Bedford. It is on the CCMV website. Mumford was a Plymouth firm.
Mumfords also built an order of L4P's and RT for Staffordshire in 1964 based on the Carmichael Redwing with slight variations so likewise the ET may look like HCB but has a higher roof line and other small additions. I am restoring ERF 725B a L4P
