Early 1950s Bedford S Miles bodied type B pump water tender. Alfred Miles was one of the first UK firms to build appliances with roller shutter lockers. Fitted with Dennis 500 gpm pump.

Later S series Miles units were built on a bare chassis with a Miles-styled front cowl, retaining the distinctive four piece windscreen and incorporating a chrome framed triangular mesh grille.

This enabled the firm to increase the width of both the cab and the rear body. The same cab was used on J series chassis, converted to semi forward control, and then also on Dennis F8 chassis.
