Merryweather Hatfield Type 3 Pump

This is the pump fitted to the 1913 Bass Brewery Merryweather. It is a 3 cylinder recipricating pump with large diameter pistons. The brass tubes coming out of the cylinders (most easily seen on the right cylinder) are actually part of the pistons and move in and out as the pump rotates at 400 rpm. Using engine terminology it is a 'wet sump' pump with an oil level up to the first drain cock on the right side. The handwheel switches the pump from bypass mode (where the pumped water is delivered back to the inlet) to normal flow to the deliveries.

The problem that I have is that I do not have any manual which can guide me to the specifics of the pump and I am reluctant just to guess to avoid possible damage. Can anyone help me in this respect.

Best wishes, Barry.
