FDNY Fire Marshal's van at the scene of a 6 alarm fire on Feb 4 2007 in Queens NYC. Note all the salt spray. This was a spell of very cold, snowy weather and a lot of rock salt (known elsewhere as 'grit') was used to make roads safe.
