LAFD has a large Pierce fleet. Personally, I really like their livery, which is both elegant and quite distinctive. Unlike LA County, their pumpers have long since abandoned booster reels, although many stations often respond to brush fires.
They operate singly with a four member crew, or in a two-piece company with a total of six. Engine 227 is the second engine assigned to station 27, and as such has a two person crew. These two piece engine companies operate along with a ladder truck as a designated "task force", which is a unique Los Angeles concept.
