Unusual (factory?) four door crew cab. No visible pump, many assorted tiny lockers, big single first aid reel, lots of ladders, a huge rear step and a fixed towing ball.
This looks like it might have an interesting history...anything known about it?
This may have been the one recently seen on Ebay. I think it was the works appliance for Vauxhall motors. The rear step is actually a platform for carrying a Godiva fwp which would of provided its pumping capability.

Built as an escape carrier, from memory for either Bedford or Vauxhall Motors. Has passed through various hands.
Following a bit of research + memory built as an escape carrier hence extended back end then converted to a hosereel tender. pictured in Nostalgia Roads "British Fire Engines of the 50s and 60s" by Simon Rowley. It used to live near Lancaster.
Thanks both for your information - it is always interesting to know the history of unique "one-off" appliances like this. No wonder the crew cab looks so professional, if it was a Bedford factory fire engine!
