Wedding is one of the 54 volunteer fire stations in Berlin, which operate in co-ordination with the 35 full time stations operated by the paid fire department.

The LHF 16/12 on a MAN 10 ton 220 BHP chassis is the standard pumper in Berlin. It has a 1600 LPM pump, CAFS, a 1200 liter tank, hydraulic rescue equipment and a full suite of ladders including a 12 meter extension. The crew numbers six firefighters.

Each full time station has one or two, as well as an aerial and two or more ambulances. Many have additional special units - Tech I is the largest station with no less than 54 various appliances, pods and trailers!

Now almost all of the volunteer stations also have a rescue pumper, and most have a second or even a third pumper, as well as an assortment of specials dispersed over several locations.

Berlin was the first fire service to develop the combined rescue pump in 1983/4, and after trials the city standardized on these at all of their full time fire stations, then progressively started assigning them to the volunteer companies.
