KF&RS Peugeot Water Services van

A rare pic of one of the short lived Kent Fire & Rescue Service Water Services Peugeot van's out checking/maintaining Fire Hydrants, seen in Goddington Park, Ashford on 07/09/2011. This service was put out to tender and I've no idea who now does this,(if at all)!

Let's hope it is still being done.

But if it is a third party job, somebody is making a profit at ratepayers' expense.

What price fire brigade cost cutting?

One advantage of the widespread presence of volunteer fire companies in many countries is that volunteers are very frequently asked to perform water supply assurance inspections in their local area from time to time.

These include both hydrants and static water supplies; in areas without hydrants seasonal checks on tanks, sumps and open water sources can also be very important.

Not only are water levels assessed, but access and signage are also checked.
