These old 911s were very commonplace with German volunteer fire companies in the 1960s and 1970s.

They were often on the run for many years, as they did not usually attend very many alarms each year. Germany has no less than 26, 000 volunteer fire companies, so most of them don't get a lot of calls.

Quite a few were exported after they had completed thirty or even forty years, especially to several South American countries, where they continued to do sterling service for many more years.
