Was this HP a part of the airport fire service before becoming a lighting tower?

Got to admit its a good use for an old HP

Andy, you going to have to tell us a little more of its capability, I take it this combination is still in service or is it hired out around the Guernsey for various events? Whichever, I agree with Danny and his comment, thanks.

It was in service at Skegness, Lincolnshire FRS

I'm presuming the blue box at the rear of the cab is the generator for the lights? They've obviously had to extend the headstock so the the booms clear this when stowed. Also, the 3rd boom doesn't stow as it normally would, presumably to avoid fouling the lights in the cage. You wouldn't normally be able to raise the jacks with any of the booms in this position. IMO it looks a bit of a bodge job, but I suppose the increased travelling height is of less importance on a wide open airfield.

It was brought to Guernsey by Lagan Construction for the major runway project at Guernsey Airport. It has since returned to the UK.

I agree with Mel...a lot of the safety precautions have been overridden to make this work..yes there should be no one in the cage but it can still fall over onto someone or something by overriding safety features !......When I did my HP course we were given an example of a non fire service platform in use at a sporting event with a camera man in the cage..the 'powers that be' decided to shroud the booms in netting to stop the platform spoiling the view...unfortunately the booms were moved and the netting fouled on the jack control levers causing one ore more jacks to retract with the cameraman still aloft with the inevitable fatal consequences !..this wasn't as a result of a bodge..but was one of the reasons why the anti retract feature was fitted with the booms raised !
I hope its been cleared with the 'elf and safety bods'

Is this the same Dodge Saxon low profile?

Going by what can be read of the registration number, this appliance is not F576 HTL (picture 7394) but G662 TFW. The Fire Brigade Handbook states it was at Boston whereas F576 HTL was at Lincoln.
