These Indian pumpers tend to be quite a bit bigger than most British or European equivalents, because they have a 4, 546 liter water tank and a large quantity of hoses on board.

These are both needed to compensate for the relative shortage of hydrants and the distances between them in many areas of several of their towns and cities.

Relays and shuttles are often needed at serious fires, especially in the extensive and ubiquitous slum areas.

Large tandem axle tankers are also used, but the emphasis is on having enough water on the first attending units to deal with most fires.
