New Zealand Land Rover Carmichael AH9891

Believed to be one of 7 FT6 model appliances imported into New Zealand. This Carmichael built example dates from 1964 and served the Temuka and Brooklands volunteer brigades. It is now part of the Ferrymead museum collection and was photographed in March 2013.

The FT was a good idea, as it combined a full crew cab with the same body space as a regular long wheel base Land Rover.

But it seems this did tempt some users to overload the chassis, which was not designed to accommodate an increased payload....
