What we would term a command/control unit (UK), seen at the Jugendfeuerwehr camp 2005. All the details i know for definite is that it is on a Mercedes chassis.
There are several different towns in Germany called Erbach, and three of them have volunteer fire companies. The Odenwaldkreis one has since replaced this unit with an ELW 2 on a Mercedes Atego chassis, which can be seen in an interesting aerial photo at a hazmat incident on their website...
The Ecoliner chassis in the above photo was introduced in 1989.
Command vehicles play a much larger role in German fire services than in most other countries, and come in three designated sizes, with progressively more accommodations for command staff and increasing amounts of communication equipment. The largest one in service is an enormous double deck Neoplan bus operated by the Karlsruhe city fire service, which is illustrated on on this site....
