Who knows their fire engines?

There are three photos in the series. Unfortunately the quality drops off to reduce for the site, but nevermind. Would anyone like to take a stab at identifying the appliance, station/country of origin, location of this photo, and any other info. I will post the other two photos progressively,,,, Good luck! Pavel

I hope all our Antipodean friends make a real effort and sorts Pavel out! But even if you haven't a clue (like me) isn't it fun? Let's have more quiz's from different parts of the world.

Hello, Pavel. The chassis is a FORD or( FORDSON in ENGLAND), Warning light's & hose fitting, s are english. The pump look's like a BARTON or AMERICAN MARSH.don't know for sure if any of these pump's ever crossed the pond?AGE 1955 to 1959?Could be from AUSTRALIA, but i'll say a rural town in ENGLAND.p.s.pump look's like a 500 G.M.P.

Thanks Barry! George, you are correct about the vehicle being a FORD. Now, you are ½ correct about the warning lights, you are very much on target about crossing the pond, well done on that one. I'm hoping someone who knows the vehicle will confirm age, etc, or I will have to make an overseas phone call, , The number plate is a clue, if I give you the second photo too soon I may make it too easy. Oh, and correct on the hose fittings but not a rural town in ENGLAND

Pavel, George was partly correct. It's a Ford V8, but not used in the USA or UK.
UK never used red flashing lights. I looked at the numberplate and it looks like a New Zealand one to me.PVFB8* I checked my collection and found out that it was from the Papatoetoe Volunteer Fire Brigade served from 1956 to 1968 as pump, later converted in a hose layer orginal number plate was DA 4851. It's now preserved with MOTAT

The appliance is a Ford F100 dating from I think 1953-54. It's powered by a Ford V8 flathead engine and a four speed manual box.
The pump is a Colonial Motor Co version of an early front mount Darley Champion of about 350 gpm. The appliance was in service with the Papatoetoe Volunteer Fire Brigade in Auckland NZ. It is now owned by the "Old Boys Assoc".There were about 6-12 of these built in this country in the 1950's, most were hose reel tenders and towed Ford trailer pumps with frightning results on wet roads.

Frank, when I come to the UK I'm definately paying you a visit! I want to check out your incredible data base. As John and you both correctly identified, it is a Ford V8 and many a young lad serving with the Papatoetoe Volunteer Fire Brigade in Auckland NZ obtained their driver's licence in this vehicle. When I took the photo the engine was out of the vehicle being rebuilt. Interestingly, the rotating red beacon was manufactured in Japan which I thought was unusual? Thanks guys for your input which was fabulous. I'll post the other two photos which are really nice. Sad the Kiwi's went down to the Swiss in the America's Cup finals today, both tremendous teams, , , ,

Pav - a beauty of a Front-Mount Pumper - I would have 100% placed it in North America - back-ground foliage included...except for that front Licence-Plate.

"Kudos" to John and Frank on the correct ID.

Regards, from Canada,
