Fire Engines Photos

This picture is just a little unusual - the vehicle on the right is based on a Bedford TL chassis which was not used extensively for fire appliances unlike its predecessor the TK. The TL with its tilt cab had relatively little to offer. This one is probably a TL 1260 with a Turbocharged engine and may have an auto transmission. Can anyone identify the builder - HCB Angus perhaps ?

The vehicle on the right was a Mountain Range bodied appliance. L&B used this company for appliances from W reg`s - to F regs in 1988. It also used them for the 3 trial appliances on Volvo, Scania and Mercedes chassis which were used for evaluation purposes which were H and J registered.

Slight correction to my previous posting, Mountain Range didn`t supply W reg appliances to L&B, - Carmichaels did that year. The Mountain range appliances started at Y reg in 1983

That's a Dodge G13/Mountain Range WrL Peter one of the A49/52 EMS batch and the flats look like those around the rear of Sighthill Fire Station. The only Bedford TL L&BFB had was the Excalibur ET at Galashiels D927CRF.

The appliance on the right of the picture(A52 EMS)is a Dodge G13C/Mountain Range WrL(ex-Stn 47 Coldstream(RT).The TL(A318 ASF)is a Shelvoke & Drewry/Metz with bodywork by Angloco.

This incident was in Crewe Tolls area at Boswall Parkway. L&B had A49, 50, 51 and 52 EMS.
