Nice illustration of their characteristic type of hydraulic roof rack on this Netherlands appliance.

These can be used to carry quite an extensive variety of ladders, as well as suction hoses and long tools, and make removal and replacement of such items very easy.

In the Netherlands, open water sources are very plentiful and suction hoses are often deployed. This was one motivation for these powered roof racks several years ago, but they also speeded up acccess to ladders too.

The idea rapidly spread to Germany and other countries - and is now to be found pretty much everywhere that overhead ladder and/or suction storage designs are popular.
