Can anyone explain what is the collection of hardware on the roof, on the left side of the vehicle above the lockers?

The "collection" is actually a tool used to stabilize wrecked vehicles. They are referred to as "Step Chocks". Usually crafted in station from 4x2 timber.

There do not seem to be any suction hoses. Does London not carry them any more, as their ground is so extensively covered by the hydrant network?

The suction hose may be behind the panel above the pump. This is why you cannot see them. Merseyside have the same set up.

Thanks everyone. Interesting how different fire services equip their trucks in various unique ways and find alternative places to store everything.

But I agree, the tube is still a bit of a mystery to me too! The Russians and Dutch store their suction hoses in these kind of tubes, but I don't see London carrying only one single suction on each pump?
