Just the job Petros, I've been after a rear view photo of this for ages, I have a few other shots of it but never seen a rear view until now. Thank you for sharing, keep the old North York's stuff coming if you have anymore please.
this will be the forerunner of todays carps that didnt work then either, I hear from my fiends in tayside that they are to get a dedicated aerial and lose a brand new troublesome carp (been very late on the run due to numerous faults -not that theier other two are faultless by any means)to another area in the brand new scottish FRS
PHPs came and went quite quickly, mainly I think because the truck had to be positioned very carefully for the relatively short (15 meter) platform to be very useful.
With the flexibility of the new lighter-weight 13.5 meter ground ladders, and the increasing equipment load on every first responding appliance, the 15 meter platform configuration led to a somewhat oversized unit with compromised locker and/or water tank space. Another answer to a question nobody was asking!
As an aside, drivers in York must have been pretty confused at this point in time, with the local Brigade operating a collection of red, white and yellow appliances all at the same time.
Perhaps York also had a Green Goddess, so they could respond (at least in theory) with four units in four different colours?
They are not only very colourful, but a pretty mixed bunch, too. Two TKs, an older Bedford ET, an AEC Merryweather TL, a D series Ford and the ERF PHP in its white livery at that time. Quite a mixture!
