With reference to the refurbishment of Kidderminster station mentioned in another photo - we found out when this was being done that many of us had been leading charmed lives. On very many occasions we pitched the HP to the windows at the rear of the station. It was a very tricky pitch to be able to reach all of the windows and you could also use the HP's ability to go up and over the station roof if you got the pitch right. When the station was being re-built in the early 90's, the builders found that the slope at the rear of the station was simply a crust of many layers of tarmac, the ground under it having subsided over the years, partially due to the river at the side of the station. The thought of us partaking in HP drills and seeing the tarmac crust under the jacks giving way is the stuff of nightmares.
That appliance is now stationed at Nenah, (no seriously)in the midlands of Ireland, last time I was sad enough to look it still had 246 in white letters stuck inside the top of the windscreen!!!!
