Here's a photo of my machine, HSA 590 meeting the lovely NHS 196 of Bob Wright. Mine was formerly with the North Eastern Area Brigade, now Grampian, well atleast until 1st April 2013! Bob's is from Greenock in the former Western Area. Both are part of the Scottish Fire Heritage Group collection.

Hi Matt,

Are you now based in Scotland, I live not to far from the Glasgow Bus Museum, good to see the F8 in preservation.

Hi Archie,
My machine has been at the old bus depot for around 9 months whilst the group's mechnaical maestro, aka George, has a look at an engine problem. It's being moved shortly to an exhibition south of the border. Would be interested if anyone has any knowledge on where this machine served, as I have conflicting info.

Hi Matt, If you look at Graeme Kirkwood's site "History of Scottish Fire Brigades" He has this machine serving from Station 77 North Anderson Drive Aberdeen. Hope this helps?

I think it only served a year or two there before going to one of the retained stations - Buckie I think....

Grant and Andy, thanks for your replies. I had been told a) It was stationed solely at North Anderson drive b) was at North Anderson Drive then Buckie c) went to Buckie then back to North Anderson drive!! So I think it's fair to say at some point it's ONLY served at these two stations!?

Hi Matt,

I grew up with your machine playing a huge part in my life. My father was in the Grampian Fire Brigade and was involved in a number of local and not so local vintage rallies that incorporated this very vehicle along with a number of other vintage Dennis units.

Following his retirement from the brigade his involvement became less and less. I mentioned to him just last month that I was interested in finding out what had happened to this very machine and he said he thought it had been sold! I was devastated as I had always thought that at some point in my life I would be in a position to buy HSA 590 from the brigade as it was a big part of my childhood growing up and never far from my thoughts.

I would be interested in chatting with you about it and could possibly put you in contact with some guys that may know more about its history.

Best,

David

David,

I also would have liked to buy it if I'd known it was for sale....

Matt,

I guess you are lucky there wasn't a huge bidding war...

HSA 590 is coming back home to the North East!

Thanks again Matt for making this possible.

Will keep in touch my friend!

David
