The German solution to carrying a portable pump was to place it in a rear locker and relocate the main pump to the front of the vehicle. These LF16TS units were mainly used by fire services which had rural as well as urban response areas, but had no tanks, often being backed up by water tenders (TLF) with 2400 liter (or larger) tanks.
