Nice to see this again. Great photo. This Fulton & Wylie-bodied appliance did indeed serve with Staffs Fire. And yes it was a rescue tender. It started out at day-crewed Leek up in the Staffordshire moorlands, before, in 1990, transferring to retained Wombourne down on the outskirts of the Black Country. In the late '90s Staffs got rid of their three Jeep 'light' rescue tenders when their frontline water tender ladders began to carry full rescue gear and became pump rescue ladders and rescue ladders.
Up until the birth of the pump rescue ladder, there were also two Dennis RS special incident units that also carried rescue gear, but they lost their gear and were 're-branded' as special incident/chemical incident units. Staffs were then left with just three 'heavy' rescue tenders to provide heavy-duty back-up. Now they have only two: a Sabre and a Scania.
And now they have only on RT left stationed at Longton Fire Station in SOT covering the hole of the Staffordshire County and the M6 from Jct 16 in the north to Jct 10 in the south.
